The Schöpflin Foundation as an Employer

Our mission is to work for others: we work for children and young people in our own facilities and for our grantees throughout Germany and across Europe.  The bedrock of our work is our team of colleagues – these are the people who make the Foundation work, day in day out, with their creativity, energy, curiosity and tenacity.

Central to us are the values we espouse in our dealings with one another: treating each other as equals; a spirit of being a self-starter and well organized; feedback and reflection; teamwork; flat hierarchies; and openness.

We expect a lot.  But we also nurture, support and encourage a lot.  As part of an annual appraisal with each colleague we jointly define goals as well as colleague’s needs for further training and development; we give colleagues the opportunity to develop internally; and we provide a culture of togetherness.

As an employer, we offer:

  • flexible hours to ensure a good work-life balance
  • mobile working
  • fair and competitive salaries
  • 5 days annual paid leave to cover child sickness
  • a crèche or kindergarten place at the Kinderhaus Schöpflin or Kinderhaus auf dem Bühl (depending on availability of places)
  • occupational pension: we value staff loyalty and take our responsibilities seriously.  The longer a colleague is with us, the more we offer – which is considerably more than the legal minimum.
  • opportunities for mixing with colleagues from other departments (summer party, Christmas party and other celebrations and get-togethers)
  • a meaningful role in an environment dealing with the key issues affecting the future of society

We are interested in the person, not a "resume without gaps".  If you’ve followed various different paths in your life, dared to experiment or gained experience in completely different areas, that’s all to the good as far as we’re concerned!  We value diversity in the team and believe in the potential derived from different perspectives, skills and backgrounds.
