In 2001, Heidi Junghanss, Hans and Albert Schöpflin founded the Schöpflin Foundation together, initially with an addiction prevention center in their parents' home, Villa Schöpflin, in Lörrach-Brombach. This was followed by the Schöpflin Workshop, support for the Schöpflin Kinderhaus and Gärtnerhaus, and the opening of the Schöpflin School. Since 2014, the foundation has been a supra-regional grantmaker for civil society organizations.
The three siblings have accompanied the foundation on the advisory board since its establishment. Now the founders have initiated the transition of their commitment to the next generation. Heidi Junghanss and Albert Schöpflin have already handed over their seats on the advisory board to their daughters Jasmine Strautmann and Dr. Nikola Braun respectively in 2021. Now Lisl Schöpflin, daughter of Hans Schöpflin, has also joined the Advisory Board. Lisl Schöpflin was born in the USA and continues to live with her family in California. She holds a doctorate in history and is Chairman of the Board of the Panta Rhea Foundation, which Hans Schöpflin founded in the USA in 1998. In the future, Lisl Schöpflin will accompany the work of the Schöpflin Foundation more closely and in this way combine her father's philanthropic commitment in the USA and Germany.
Hans Schöpflin looks forward to this change with joyful anticipation: "My siblings and I have passed the baton on to the next generation. All things flow - and that's a good thing. We are looking forward to seeing what ideas and content they will bring to their task." He himself will remain on the advisory board of the Schöpflin Foundation and for the time being also chairman of the executive board.
