This year, for the second time, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the German Commission for UNESCO are honoring actors with the »National Award - Education for Sustainable Development«. This prize is awarded to organizations and initiatives that are committed to and implement education for sustainable development (ESD) in a particularly outstanding way. A high-ranking jury selects three actors in each of the categories »places of learning«, »multipliers« and »educational landscapes«, and also awards a »newcomer-prize« . The prizes are worth a total of 100,000 euros.
In 2023, the winners in the »Multipliers« category will include the initiative Schule im Aufbruch, our long-standing funding partner in the »Learning & Participation« program area. Schule im Aufbruch motivates learners and teachers to critically question prevailing understandings of teaching in order to initiate a sustainable transformation of schools that creates space for new learning. The aim is to orient school life towards sustainability, the development of potential and experiences of self-efficacy, and to firmly anchor ESD in schools.
We congratulate Schule im Aufbruch for this great appreciation of their work!
