ACT and »Schule im Aufbruch«: New Grantees in our Schools & Development program

From summer 2019 onwards, the Schöpflin Foundation will support two new organizations that develop innovative solutions for change processes within the German school system. »Schule im Aufbruch« (Schools on the Move), led by Margret Rasfeld – former principal of the Evangelische Schule Berlin Zentrum – has been committed to educational innovation since 2012 and supports school networks in their transformation. »ACT – Direct your own life« is a non-profit association that implements model projects for creative, participatory learning and communicates the principles of democratic leadership according to the concept of teacher and theatre pedagogue Maike Plath.

Although differing in their approaches, both initiatives share the goal of enabling children and young people, regardless of their social and ethnic background, to develop their full potential and abilities and to support them in finding their place as designers of our society. Both focus on participation, responsibility and cooperation as well as diversity, mutual respect and creativity.

Together with our new grantees, we want to advance a paradigm shift in the German education system. To this end, we support our funding partners in making their ideas for a new learning culture better known and in firmly anchoring them in the field.
