On November 11, 2021, Hans Schöpflin will be presented with the German Donor Award in Frankfurt am Main. We are delighted about this award for our founder, just as we are about the reason given by the Federal Association of German Foundations for this choice: Hans Schöpflin, the Federal Association wrote at the beginning of 2020 when announcing the decision, is an "encourager."
In her tribute on the occasion of the upcoming award ceremony, Friederike von Bünau, Chairwoman of the Board of the Association of German Foundations, explains in more details the reasons why Hans Schöpflin is being awarded the highest distinction in the German foundation sector. With Hans Schöpflin, a philanthropy is honored that not only donates, but also instigates. It calls on the sector to be more courageous and willing to take risks when it comes to finding innovative solutions and ideas for social challenges – and on every member of society to take their destiny into their own hands and play an active role in shaping our world.
The award ceremony was actually scheduled to take place during the German Foundation Day 2020 in Leipzig, but had to be postponed because of the corona pandemic. This year, too, the ceremony has to take place on a smaller scale than originally planned due to the current corona regulations. We are therefore all the more pleased that the Federal Association is providing a livestream via which the event can be followed online: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZ7QGTW-zpY#t=30m48Newsarchive
