We recently ran our first Schöpflin Leadership Day with the participation of founders, managing directors and leading figures from our sponsorship partners. The day was run jointly by us and Common Purpose; and theme of the day was “Celebratory Culture – and Celebrating Culture”, something often overlooked by social organizations and NGOs. It was all about pausing at the end of a stressful project. It looked at how to celebrate success and how to reflect on failures; at recognizing what has been achieved and at getting motivated for the next steps; and finally, at the issue of saying thank you. We went on excursions in the region and saw how other organizations celebrate their achievements. For example we visited KBC, a textile printing company; the Evangelische Johannesgemeinde (St John’s Church Community) in Lörrach; and Basel Tourismus’ celebration of Shrove Tuesday.
By posing the question “Why is the Schöpflin Foundation celebrating my project?”, we were then able to experience a real highlight as each participant got to the very heart of what all their hard work actually meant. And our own team also learned a great deal from the experience. A heart-felt thank you from us all.Newsarchive
