What does Das macht Schule do?

Das macht Schule helps teachers to implement practical projects and thereby equip their students for the future.  This initiative activates, empowers and supports teachers.  Das macht Schule provides free, online project instructions and tools so that teachers can run practical projects which then give students hands-on experience as well as a sense of having participated in something.  The scheme does not require high levels of skill, is available throughout Germany and is scalable.

 

 

 

 

 

Why are we awarding a grant to Das macht Schule?

 

By supporting the Das macht Schule initiative, the Schöpflin Foundation is having a direct impact in schools.  The Foundation is therefore able to play its part in ensuring that, through projects undertaken together, both students and teachers acquire the skills they will need in order to play an active role in the society of the future.  Given its easy-access approach, Das macht Schule is able to operate throughout Germany and has the potential to change schools from within.

 

What have we achieved together?

Our primary goal is to ensure that every school child leaves school with the skills that he or she will need to achieve his or her full potential, to lead a successful life and to play an active role in the further development of society. The scheme of Das macht Schule enables teachers, for their part, to experience and appreciate the value of participatory projects. It enables students to take responsibility, to acquire personal and social skills and to get involved in a project in a way that is meaningful.
