What does Rat für Digitale Ökologie do?

The RDÖ wants to ground digitalization: It advocates a holistic digital policy that is oriented towards the common good and focused on participation and sustainability. The council includes respected figures from various disciplines, including social psychologist Prof. Harald Welzer, transformation researcher Prof. Maja Göpel, urban planner Prof. Vanessa Miriam Carlow, computer scientist Prof. Peter Reichl and BDEW President Marie-Luise Wolff. The FUTURZWEI Foundation for Sustainability is the initiator and sponsor of the RDÖ.

Why are we awarding a grant to Rat für Digitale Ökologie?

Global digital corporations and fast-growing start-ups are creating facts with their innovations. As a rule, they pay little attention to the consequences for society and democracy. At the same time, society makes too little use of the potential of digitalization for the common good - for example in the context of education or environmental protection. 

What is our mutual goal?

As politics usually only looks at specific aspects, it regularly falls behind technical developments with its ideas for shaping the future. With the Council for Digital Ecology, we want to make a contribution to a forward-looking, creative and positive approach to digitalization: transdisciplinary, visionary and prudent.
