What does foodwatch do?

Foodwatch reinforces consumers’ rights to sufficient, safe and healthy food.  The organisation publicises problems in the food industry and mobilises consumers. It proposes effective national and European laws to bring about political change, with the aim of ensuring that the food industry really does serve the interests of the consumer.

 

 

 

 

Why are we awarding a grant to foodwatch?

We began our collaboration with project funding for the campaign against the free trade agreements TTIP and CETA. In the meantime, we have been supporting the organizational development of the International Unit of foodwatch for several years, with country offices in several European countries. For campaigns against the big corporations to be effective, they must at least be networked at the European level. This is particularly true in the food sector, where much of the regulation comes from Brussels.

What is our mutual goal?

Together we will learn how to build a powerful European NGO. We want to put a stop to corporate practices and political measures that weaken or contradict consumer, civil and human rights in an exemplary manner and with a consequential effect. In this way, we strengthen democracy and contribute to a Europe of citizens.
