Two years ago, our Grantee CORRECTIV  published an investigation titled »Geheimplan gegen Deutschland« (Secret Plan Against Germany). The report covered a secret meeting between AfD politicians, right-wing extremists, and wealthy businesspeople, who were discussing the deportation of millions of people with a migration background from Germany. Two participants, Ulrich Vosgerau and Gernot Mörig, subsequently filed lawsuits against CORRECTIV. On 19th December 2025, the Hamburg Regional Court fully dismissed both cases.

The lawsuits did not challenge the factual core of the investigation, but rather the journalistic interpretation. This included passages referring to the concept of »Remigration« and a »Masterplan zur Ausweisung deutscher Staatsbürger« (master plan for the expulsion of German citizens). The court has now confirmed the legitimacy of CORRECTIV’s interpretation. In two other contested passages, the court also ruled in favor of CORRECTIV: Vosgerau’s wording regarding an »Ausbürgerungsidee« (idea of denaturalization) was correctly reported — including the note that he could not recall the details when confronted. Likewise, the suggestion of an expert panel for implementing the concept, put forward by Gernot Mörig, was factually presented according to the court’s decision.

Several courts had previously classified the »Remigration« concept as unconstitutional. »Not only for CORRECTIV, but for all independent media, the verdict sends a strong signal: Press freedom is protected even when lawsuits are used strategically to cast doubt on credibility in the public sphere«, says Justus von Daniels, editor-in-chief of CORRECTIV.
