What does Acker e. V. do?

Acker creates a unique and innovative learning space with its educational program – the field – combining holistic learning with the mind, hands, and heart. In an increasingly digitalized world, experiencing nature is especially important for children to establish a connection to the world we live in and to develop skills for shaping the future. Through growing their own vegetables, young people learn the value of food, where it comes from, and how our handling of it impacts climate change.

Why are we awarding a grant to Acker e. V.?

Within the educational framework created by Acker, all 4 Cs (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking) are addressed and integrated. Experiencing oneself as part of nature and the environment that needs protection is essential for developing a personal attitude toward topics like nutrition, environmental protection, and biodiversity. After all, we can only protect what we know. Climate change will significantly challenge certain narratives we have long taken for granted in the coming years. Young people must experience a solution-oriented approach at school — one that helps them understand and protect nature better and explore simple ways to contribute to this effort.

What is our mutual goal?

Acker, through its self-founded System-Change-Allianz, has set the goal that every child in Germany will have the opportunity to experience nature, sustainability, and growing their own food by 2030. Achieving this goal requires a systemic approach that relies on independent entrepreneurial resources and a corresponding mindset. These resources and values are intended to be used purposefully and sustainably to drive change within the German education system.
