What does Rebalance Now do?

Rebalance Now is a new organization that works to counter the concentration of economic power and promotes a shift toward an economy that is fair and open to democratic shaping. For this purpose, Rebalance Now is developing an agenda against monopoly power and uses antitrust law to limit the power of individual companies. 

 

 

Why have we awarded a grant to Rebalance Now?

The concentration of economic power harms not only democracy, society and the environment, but also the economy. Dominant companies secure one-sided advantages, eliminate healthy competition and pass on social and environmental costs. Their power restricts our ability to shape democracy. In order to curb this concentration of power, we need civil society voices in antitrust policy. To this end, we are strengthening the anti-monopoly movement together. 

What is our mutual goal?

Through this funding partnership, we are supporting a young organization that advocates against monopolization and for a diverse economy. In Germany and Europe, there are first signs of a movement against monopoly power. Rebalance Now aims to expand the existing network and strengthen the voice and presence of civil society in this important field.
