Digital technologies shape and enrich our everyday lives. At the same time, they come with risks: deepening existing inequalities, creating new dependencies, and transforming democratic processes. The rapid pace of digital development makes it increasingly difficult to stay informed and respond critically to new dynamics.
Our new Grantee Tactical Tech is committed to empowering people to navigate an increasingly digital world with confidence. The organization supports individuals, groups, NGOs, and independent media in understanding the impact of digital technologies and using them in a self-determined way.
Tactical Tech's work is divided into two areas: the Tactical Tech Studio and the Tactical Tech Institute. The Studio focuses on digital education and public-facing projects. Exhibitions, e-learning formats, and toolkits like the Data Detox Kit aim to help especially young people reflect on their digital identities and critically question the influence of technology. The Tactical Tech Institute, on the other hand, is dedicated to strengthening the digital competence of NGOs, journalists, and policymakers. Through masterclasses and hands-on training, experts come together to educate participants on current topics such as artificial intelligence, digital security, and influence in the digital space.
Our collaboration focuses on further developing Tactical Tech’s social enterprise business model and broadening its financial base. This will enable the organization to continue responding flexibly to the needs of its audiences and partners, anticipate emerging technological and sociopolitical trends, and explore new sources of funding for the nonprofit sector.
